MANY spare hours of knitting were dedicated by Lorien Novalis students to help bring a smile to those in need.
The year 5 class from the Glenhaven school knitted cuddly gnome dolls to give to orphans in Cambodia.
They were moved when they learnt about the story of Tara Winkler, this year’s NSW Young Australian of the Year, who helped establish the Cambodian Children’s Trust.
Realising they too could make difference, the 11-year-olds started making the colourful dolls from woven bags for the children from the trust.
“Our students are very capable with their hands,” teacher Jacqueline Hadden said.
