Brady picks apart the Jets
The implications of the Patriots 45-3 mauling of the Jets on Monday night will resonate throughout the 2011 playoffs. With the loss the Jets dropped from the No. 1 position in the AFC playoffs to the No. 5 position; meaning if New York makes it to the Super Bowl, they, or someone else, will have to beat New England in Foxborough, where Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has won 26 in a row.
The Jets’ No. 1 ranked defense lost safety Jim Leonhard to a broken leg this week. Leonhard’s absence as the defensive play caller was felt early and often as the Jets failed to stop inside runs, outside runs, short passes and deep passes. The Jets’ blitz packages were no match for Brady who shredded New York’s vaunted defense for 326 yards and four touchdowns on 21 of 29 passing.
Hottie Mark Sanchez was simply awful. In two career starts at New England, Sanchez has thrown seven interceptions.
